This cartoon was offbeat in having a bird as the villain and the cat as
the
sympathetic character.

There was a Tex Avery Droopy cartoon with a similar premise, in which
Droopy and
another dog both inherit a bundle, and the other dog makes a series of
backfired
attempts to off Droopy.
