Don't give your credit card details to "rightstuf.com"
Because they're currently the only place to order the licensed
translation for 'Victorian Romance Emma', I tried to purchase it from
them...
My mistake.
It turns out that have some funny ideas about credit cards. Because I'm
an 'International Purchaser, they're demanding I send them a photo of
address ID and a photo of the front and back of my credit card! Yes,
that's right, they want me to send them my credit card over email!
I've contacted them to point out that this isn't awfully secure, and
that contrary to what they appear to think, VISA do offer verification
of UK credit cards to US merchants. They could even use the 'Verified by
VISA' password check with my credit card. They'd even get lower
transaction costs if they used that system. They've consistently denied
that they could do that, claiming it's not available to them, and
there's no way to verify my card. Insisting that the only way they can
'securely' accept my VISA payment is by sending them photos of my card
by email.
This goes against a raft of the rules for VISA merchants. And it leads
me to significantly question how securely they're handling people's
credit cards, so I'm recommending not to give your business to these
people.
