And, if memory serves, he kills off the first cast half way through and
then starts over with characters on the other side of the war.

I'm curious, how did you feel about the author insisting all the names
be changed to American ones so readers could relate better (as the
characters were intended to be like the reader, whatever nationality
that was)?
