My 24" computer TFT has 8ms response time, and is 2 years old now. And
while 8ms does give you theoretical 125Hz (frames per second), this
doesn't
mean anything because on a LCD the picture stays until it's replaced by
another picture (and you can't easily calculate the additional pictures to
go in between whatever's coming from broadcast). On a CRT, there's a huge
difference between 50 and 100Hz however (but that's because the picture
doesn't look like it's blinking anymore).

Of course, when somebody thinks of a new marketing term, everybody else
jumps on it, so they don't look like they're worse than the competitor.
