"Meet the Robinsons" had a good hold for its second week. I was able
to
catch it myself this Easter. It's one of the best looking CGI movie ever,
with
an appealing color palette and soft, curvy character and building designs.
I
liked the science geek lead character. But the plot could use some
rewriting.
It's a time travel plot and so all the paradoxes with time travel bog the
plot
down (and makes the movie too much of a "Back to the Future" ripoff) The
other
characters (especially the Robinsons) needed more character development.
And
the Bowler Hat villain at first comes off as confusing, though once you
guess
his identity he becomes a more interesting character. MtR was
entertaining,
(easily) better than "Dinosaur" or "Chicken Little", but it still wasn't
great.
I should've pointed out last week that the production budget for
"TMNT"
was only $34 Million. Its boxoffice has long passed that. So this film
is a
success; I expect at the least a long list of D2V sequels to follow.
Now we'll see if the Turtles and the Robinsons can face off against
the
Aqua Teens. :-)
