Wow, I must say I'm surprised. I didn't think anyone cared about the
Simpsons anymore. Check out all these boxoffice records (not factoring in
inflation)
Biggest Opening Weekend, Cartoon movie of a Cartoon TV series:
The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie $32,018,216
Biggest Opening Weekend Wide Release, Traditionally animated movie:
The Lion King $40,888,194
All sailed pass. Did you know that "The Rugrats Movie" holds the record
for
biggest overall U.S. boxoffice of a cartoon movie of a cartoon TV series,
with
$100,138,851? "The Simpsons Movie" is poised to pass that as well.
I helped in seeing this movie on Sunday.
MILD SPOILERS
Actually, twenty minutes into the movie I got bored. I just couldn't care
very
much for the latest predicament Springfield has found itself in. Nothing
seemed like a big deal to me. Springfield has been sealed up? The
townspeople
literally want to lynch the Simpsons? I thought, "no big deal". I was
also
disappointed that the animation was the same quality as on the TV series.
Character animation looked especially ugly on the big screen as a result.
Nonetheless I laughed a few times. My favorite gag was the bomb squad
robot
skit.
There sure were a lot of crowd scenes. I looked for Snowball 2 but I
couldn't
find her. Did anyone spot her? :-)
And oh yeah, Green Day SUCKS. :-)
