(I tried posting this over on rec.arts.anime.misc. I got plenty of
replies to the first half of the core question, but nothing at all for
the second half... Might this group do a better job with the thread,
perhaps?)
In a joint effort to improve their respective corporate images, GENOM,
KaibaCorp, and Mishima Heavy Industries are jointly funding the First
Annual Great Invention Contest. The rules are simple: using only the
contents of the design-shop-floor spare-parts bins supplied by the
sponsors, create something man-portable, useful, non-explosive, and
(above all) *nifty*. The time limit between getting access to the parts
and producing the finished invention is six hours.
It's open to all comers. So far, the contestant list includes:
* Kaolla Suu, with her "Mecha-Tama Mark XIV" (handy for guarding those
out-of-the-way archaelogical digs);
* Skuld, with her "Mister Ice Cream Maker Type 2" (which, unlike Mister
Ice Cream Maker Type 1, offers the *full* range of Japanese ice cream
flavours); and
* Senbe Norimaki, with his "Babe Magnet" (which should physically draw
attractive females to him, but Arale has never let him test).
Isn't it pathetic what some people think is "nifty"? ^_^
So... Who else takes part, and what do they build?
(On the off-chance that people don't recognize these three charactrs,
they're from Love Hina, Oh My Goddess, and Doctor Slump, respectively.
